Letter

Hello again!
For writing we had to write what it would be like for the first Polynesian settlers when they set sail for New Zealand.
Here is my version...

Dear sister,
I am boarding my boat to the New Island! Father says it is too dangerous, that there will be animals of prey and unclean water.
Well.. I do not believe him, because I dream of owning a farm and my beloved sheep will be happy. The grass at our old home is brown and dead, and many lambs and sheep have fallen ill.

7 weeks later,
Oh sister, you are very lucky you didn't come with me.
The boat has already rocked so much that it threw off 3 birds and 5 men, and we haven't gone to the stormiest part of the sea yet! I am almost convinced we will not survive. We have passed one storm and it sunk 2 ships. I am hungry and I'm afraid I will catch the virus that has been going around, because of the unclean water.

3 weeks later,

I am now absolutely terrified.
6 of the 10 ships have sunk! I have seen 5 men on the ship being thrown over the side into the waves, for they have the virus. My only hope is that I don't get told to tip out the vomit bucket-yuck.

9 weeks later,

Dear sister, we have reached the new land...
