I heard a whisper but no one was there…
As i slipped past old stores, there was a screech that pierced the night. I ran.
I ran and ran and ran. The idea of that screech again would haunt the rest of my thoughts.
Although I was scared, I was still running, as fast as my little tiny legs could take me.
I slipped to a stop in a little clearing in the mountains as a dragon flew from a nest , leaving two eggs.
I grabbed the eggs, and sprinted home, smiling. But I thought the dragon was a giant chicken back then
and the eggs were edible.
Until they cracked open in the cupboard by themselves.
I could tell because see-through gunk was spilling all over the kitchen floor.
The shells had left (or the animal) tiny claw prints.
By the time mum got home two tiny critters were in the wardrobe,
enjoying themselves by playing dress-up with mum’s dresses and hats.
"Baby Dragons! Mummy, I bought home new friends!"
